Rottnest Island ("Rotto") - Richard Dale
Rottnest Island is about a 15 minute flight from Perth and is an island where practically no cars are allowed (but you can hire bikes or walk). It has a good airstrip that presents some fantastic crosswind landing opportunities. Also see the local wildlife or "Quokkas" - the reason that "Rats" Nest (Rottnest) received its name from Dutch explorers. See some more photos of Rottnest Island from the air HERE.
IFL taking a trip with Richard and his parents May 2002 for Mothers' Day. (Hi Mum!) Here's Richard's Mum playing with a quokka. Amazingly the windsock in the background isn't horizontal (which is typical for Rotto!)
Nannup - Adrian Devenish & Pete Miller
Nannup is about 1 hour's flight south of Perth. Every year the Nannup Music Festival is held. The latest program can be found at the Nannup Music Festival website.

Bindoon Fly In - My First Grumman Adventure - Robyn Edwards
July 21 2002, just three weeks after achieving my PPL, RACWA had planned a “Fly In” and sausage sizzle with the Ultralight Club at Bindoon (abandoned) airstrip. The airstrip is the Ultralights home turf. I saw it as an opportunity to take IFL beyond the circuit area to some place interesting, an airstrip in the Pearce restricted area, and an airstrip of gravel and grass.

Chris, my passenger, and I had wonderful fly an interesting time at fly in and of course sausages in buns. And, yes I wear tomato sauce well …
